The RVN sustainability and beautification committee has been hard at work this summer, planning for this fall and beyond! With so many of us giving our houses and garages a deep clean recently, RVN will be sponsoring a recycling day. Bring your electronics, paint, and other tough-to-properly-dispose-of items to our trucks and we’ll make sure they are handled correctly. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for the date, time, and location.
The recent storms highlighted the importance of one of our committee’s biggest initiatives, which is a neighborhood tree survey. Between the storm and recent development in the last few years in the neighborhood, a lot of big, beautiful trees have left our streets. RVN aims to keep Roscoe Village leafy and green by identifying prospective sites for a newly planted tree, then contacting homeowners about having a donated tree planted on their property.
It’s never too early to plan for spring, either! RVN is making plans to work with a local garden center to brighten up our shared spaces, and we hope to bring the neighborhood some easy ways to bring healthy plants, flowers, and native grasses to flower beds and planters near you.
Last but not least, our committee is working to support environmental education and sustainability mindfulness to our neighborhood schools. Stay tuned for rain barrels, educational talks, and even a junior sustainability council soon!
